Unearth has announced the following updated North American tour dates with All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, and Carnifex:

Nergal's Illness Confirmed to be Leukemia; Nergal Awaiting Marrow Transplant

Behemoth frontman and lead guitarist Nergal's illness has been confirmed to be leukemia. According to the Polish news site TVP, the disease has advanced to the point where chemotherapy can no longer be an effective treatment and can only be cured through a bone marrow transplant.
Within the country of Poland, there are only 100,000 donors out of a population of 38,192,000. Nergal's fiance Doda has already donated her bone marrow but it's unknown if her bone marrow will provide a DNA match.

System of A Down faced Fight or Flight

System of a Down went on hiatus four years ago because the band would have split for good if they hadn't, says bassist Shavo Odadjian.
Speculation occasionally surfaces that the Armenian-American alt-metallers will reform. It doesn't look likely right now, but at least some of the band are optimistic there's some kind of a future for them.
Back in 2006 that future didn't look bright, and Odadjian says taking a break was the only way of ensuring there would be anything to look forward to.

Send Metallica into Space!

NASA has announced a new “Wake-up Song Contest” to allow the public to choose just what songs the crew will hear on the final flight of the space shuttle Discovery this November. While the voting is, unfortunately, limited to a list of 40 previously played songs (so sadly, no “Flight of Icarus” or “Space Oddity”), there are still some intriguing choices available for voters, including Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” 3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite,” Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin” and “Blue Sky” by Big Head Todd. The top two vote-getters will wake up the crew on their 11-day mission.

Sebastian Bach Nixes Skid Row Reunion

Speaking recently on Orlando’s Real Radio 104.1, Sebastian Bach fielded a series of questions about whether or not he was interested in reuniting with his ex-bandmates, who are still touring under the Skid Row moniker.

“Let me answer it as honestly as I can,” said Bach. “You’re talking about when Skid Row was last good - we broke up in '96, but I don't even count that – I would say ’91 was when we were last really a good band. I just don’t live in 1991 in 2010, and I’m talking about four other guys that I haven’t seen in 15 years.”
